
Regenerate replication, first steps in Catalonia
Last year we mentioned the interest of Avenc’s Rodger Abey who is responsible for the management of the approx. 100 cows on the property. The 300 hectares land and its cows have recently been certified organically and steps are being taken to introduce regenerative agriculture (AMP grazing, crop rotation, etc.) with the help of Volterra.
In this process also waste from the surrounding woods is being tested for its capacity to produce mushrooms in Avenc’s cellar, which has perfect conditions. The first trials were going well and this could prove another source of income apart from grass fed beef, as well as a good example of circular economy. Volterra will regularly visit this farm to support the implementation of these steps towards a truly regenerative farm.
