Progress of LIFE Regenerate Replication activities

The LIFE Regenerate project advances in the execution of actions in pursuit of the achievement of programmed results, despite the difficulties that arose with the COVID-19 pandemic. As soon as the workers' mobility was allowed for all sectors, project technicians from FNYH and UEX have visited the different farms whose owners have signed a commitment to replicate the Regenerate project practices, both in Spain and Portugal. The appropriate measures for personal protection and the required authorization were taken to conduct such visits.

Monitoring has been carried out within these farms to sample the following indicators: shrub vegetation, grassland, grove, collection of soil samples for analysis, etc. Individual Replication Plans are drawn up for single farm on the basis of both the conclusions of the analysis of this sampling and the data offered by owners in surveys on the current status of the properties (i.e., location, area, tenure and land use regime, infrastructure, equipment, agriculture, livestock, resources natural, socioeconomic, perspectives, etc.).

As field technicians have been able to verify, a good part of the farms visited has already begun to work in one way or another on some aspects of the management proposed by the project: manure, optimization of the use of silvicultural waste treatment, management of livestock, methods for improving water quality, promoting regeneration through protection, pastures, fences, etc. All the owners express great interest and hope that the progressive change towards the resources managing methods proposed by this project will revitalize them, a fundamental aspect for its continuity.
