Volterra and ID Forest explore opportunities for alternative protein production

Over the last few months, several meetings were held between Volterra Ecosystems and ID Forest with representatives of Salamanca based Mealfood Europe. The purpose was to discuss the production of larvae on wood waste (prunings) for both pork and poultry feed. In France good experience exists with production of the bug Cetonia Aurata whose larvae offer great caloric and proteic value for the animals on the farm. Future collaboration in trials and exploitation of results will be studied in the coming time.
